I used Worbla for my breast armor and I haven’t started on the gauntlets…

Making a Cosplay, working and being a full-time student is a lot of stress for me! I'm terrible at balancing life! Haha. Sometimes I just want to give up on my cosplays because I feel like I won't make my deadlines. Then I look at costumes that you and other cosplayers make and it inspires me to finish. You're a great inspiration and your work helps me refuel my desire to make my deadlines and refuse to give up! Thanks for being such a great inspiration!

<3 Anon I feel you there, I worked 2 jobs and a internship while a full time student, it was the hardest years of my life, but IT’S SO REWARDING TO PUT ALL YOUR STRESS INTO A COSTUME! Also take a deep breath it’s okay if you have to push a cosplay back, we all have to do it, school comes first, and your costume can wait! <3 <3

Done doing these so here they all are in one place! Fully Dressed Redesigns of Superheroines.

Point of this: An exercise in character design, attempting to clothe the heroines nearly all the way and not making them painted-on, while still keeping the look of their original costumes in some way. Hopefully keeping them looking as iconic as the originally were. Just showing what can be done with a costume breaking outside the barrier of the norm.

NOT the point of this: some moral code I’m trying to push on you

So I just got the all-clear to post this.

Here’s the backstory: four years ago, I was one of the artists selected for the Amanda Palmer tarot deck- I managed to get one of the royal cards. For nineteen year old me, this was a BIG FUCKING DEAL. My god, was I ever excited. Despite school, I managed to paint my card and send it in on time.

The other artists (well, many of them) and myself shared our work with each other, and the art produced for the deck was gorgeous. I was so proud to be a part of such a pretty deck, and I couldn’t wait for it to be released.

Then, the project sort of…got dropped. None of us ever got a full explanation. To be fair, at the time Amanda’s team were juggling several projects at once- a deck was low priority.

Flash forward to late December 2012 (early January 2013?): I got an email from two of the artists. They have a plan to get the damn thing printed. They were trying to get in contact with as many as the original artists as possible, collected their artwork, and finally release the deck to the public.

I don’t listen to Amanda Palmer as much as I used to. I disagree with quite a few of her recent actions. But I remembered how lovely much of the artwork was, and I remembered how much fun it was to talk to the other artists & work alongside them. Most of all, I remembered how much I wanted the deck to be released.

So I emailed them back and asked if I could redo my card before I sent it in. This is the result.

The deck is going to be funded by a fan-run Kickstarter and, unlike the original project, all the artists will be paid royalties. I’ll link to the KS when it goes up, because while I’m not much of an AP fan anymore, I really do love this project.

On a more lulzy note, here’s my original card:

….Yeaaaaah, even though I wish it hadn’t taken four years to get to this project to finish, I’m really glad this didn’t get printed. God, you can tell I was only 19.

I DO REMEMBER YOU!!! I read this on my phone, and looked at my fanime photos I had took and literately the next day my phone died and i had to go to the apple store to get a new one, because I was going to post a photo from the fanime gathering where we both are in the same photo!

hi, so i'm actually working on my first cosplay, as ashe, and i was wondering if you had any tips for her bow, and the shoulder plates she has? i'm not really sure what materials to use for those.. thanks! ps. your costume was amaaazing. i'm so in love with ashe, and you really did her justice.

In a nutshell I drew out my bow on cardboard, used 1/2” PVC pipe for the handle, then used expanda foam on both sides of the cardboard. I then carved out the shape I wanted. When I was done with that, I wrapped the expanda foam with masking tape and did 2 layers of paper mache. Here’s where I messed up. I covered the whole thing in paperclay- sanded, primed, painted and sealed. I should have used something more durable like resen, Bondo, fiberglass ect.

As far as her shoulder armor, I used 1/4” craft foam. made a flat pattern I was happy with and cut it from the foam. i then heat formed the shoulder piece to my own shoulders and then covered the foam with the same faux lamb fabric I made the rest of my cosplay with.

Noticed you play league.. noticed you cosplay league... wondering if you ever considered trying female brand? After you do that.. can you marry me? kthx :P
